A Trusted Jeans Manufacturer From China Since 2004!

You know Adidas for its iconic sneakers and tracksuits, a titan of the sportswear world. But when you think of classic denim, their three stripes don't usually come to mind.

Yes, Adidas makes jeans. While they are not a core product category, the brand offers a range of denim pants1, often with a unique sportswear or workwear twist, including special collaboration pieces2.

As someone who lives and breathes denim manufacturing3, it's always interesting to see how a sportswear giant approaches this specific fabric.

Their perspective is different from a traditional denim brand. For a designer like Dean, seeing how a brand like Adidas interprets denim opens up new ideas about function and style. Let's look closer at what they offer.

Are There Adidas Jeans?

You're looking for jeans with a sportswear twist, but traditional denim brands feel too classic. You're wondering if a brand like Adidas actually makes the denim you're searching for.

Yes, Adidas offers several types of jeans. You can find everything from multi-pocket cargo styles and loose-fit work pants to unique collaboration pieces2, like the track pants they designed with FARM Rio.

Adidas doesn't treat denim like a heritage brand would. From my perspective in manufacturing, they approach it as another performance or lifestyle fabric.

They aren't trying to replicate a classic Levi's 501. Instead, they infuse their brand DNA into the product.

You'll see styles like the IH DENIM CARGO4 pants, which blend traditional workwear utility with a modern, sporty fit. Then there's their ADILLENIUM DNBU5 pants, which take cues from 90s skate culture with a very loose, comfortable pure cotton build.

Their most interesting work often comes from collaborations. The Adidas x FARM Rio Denim Track Pants are a perfect example.

They took the silhouette of their iconic track pants but constructed them from denim, merging two completely different worlds.

It's less about historical authenticity and more about creating a hybrid garment6 that feels new and distinctly Adidas.

Are Any Jeans Manufactured in the USA?

You want to source American-made denim7, but it feels impossible to find. You wonder if a massive global brand like Adidas produces any of its apparel, specifically jeans, stateside.

Yes, some Adidas jeans8 are manufactured in the USA, but it is not common. While specific models like their casual five-pocket sport jeans have been made there, the vast majority are produced in Asia.

The "Made in the USA" label carries a lot of weight in the denim world, something a designer like Dean looks for to signal quality and heritage. It's rare to see from a brand with a supply chain as vast as Adidas. In my factory here in Dongguan, we see the scale of their operations.

The bulk of their production, for everything from sneakers to apparel, is concentrated in countries like China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. This is purely a decision based on manufacturing infrastructure, cost, and efficiency.

However, Adidas does occasionally produce specific, often limited-run or specialized products in other regions. For example, some of their spliced sports jeans have listed the USA as their place of origin. This is an exception, not the rule.

So, while you can find an American-made Adidas jean, their primary manufacturing strategy relies on their established network of factories in Asia to achieve the scale and speed their global business requires.

What Are Adidas Jeans Made Of?

You know material is everything when it comes to the feel and function of jeans. With Adidas, you're not sure if they stick to traditional denim or use more technical fabrics.

Adidas jeans8 are made from a variety of materials. Many are 100% cotton for a classic feel, while others use a cotton and spandex blend9 for stretch, or even Lyocell10 for a soft, drapey texture.

As a denim manufacturer, I find Adidas's material choices very interesting. They don't stick to just one type of denim. Their approach is driven by the final product's intended function and style.

For their workwear-inspired pants, they often use pure cotton. This gives the garment a sturdy, authentic feel that is durable, breathable, and gets better with age.

For styles that are more athletic or closer to a track pant silhouette, they'll use a cotton/spandex blend. Adding even a small percentage of spandex makes the fabric lighter and gives it the stretch needed for comfort and movement.

Then they use more unconventional materials like Lyocell10. This is a cellulose fiber, sometimes known by the brand name Tencel.

We work with it in our factory; it’s incredibly soft, drapes beautifully, and is wrinkle-resistant. Using Lyocell10 in a "jean" creates a garment that has the look of denim but the feel of a much lighter, more fluid trouser.

Their material selection shows they prioritize comfort and performance over denim purity.

When Did Adidas Jeans Come Out?

You might think of Adidas jeans8 as a modern, almost novelty item. It's hard to imagine them having a long history. You're curious when the sportswear brand first tried making denim pants1.

The history of Adidas jeans8 goes back further than many people think. They first appeared in 1976, and their original purpose was surprisingly athletic.

Unlike traditional denim, which was designed for work, these jeans were created with training and even running in mind.

This really shows the Adidas mindset: they approached denim from a sportswear perspective11 right from the start.

In 1980, a few years after the initial launch, they updated the style and gave it a new name: the "Adidas Jeans MkII12."

This version became a classic in its own right and built a strong following. The demand for this iconic style was so lasting that Adidas decided to bring it back.

In 2003, they reissued the Adidas Jeans MkII12, allowing a new generation to discover a piece of the brand's unique history in the world of denim apparel13. It's a fascinating example of how sportswear and casual fashion intersected decades ago.
